Culture is by far the most crucial determinant of success for an organization. It should be every organization’s number one priority. I believe in utilizing the intelligence and capability of people through engagement, relationships, transparency and trust to maximize their commitment. I believe leadership is earned and authority should be used sparingly. As Simon Sinek says, “leaders eat last.” I believe in collaboration and true equality in partnerships where power differentials are irrelevant. This is necessary to harness the unique skills we all possess by coming together to create a powerful force for good through transparency and respectful honesty. I believe psychological safety and civility are necessary to foster a truly engaged organization. I believe in continuous deep learning, the power of process and openness to new ideas through experimentation. I challenge the status quo and am very progressive in all I do. I believe in data and evidence-based decisions and develop systems to ensure data is used effectively. I seek to understand systems and problems at a very deep level and pursue the root cause of an issue so that it can be permanently addressed. I believe that anything not linked to creating value for customers is wasteful. I believe powerful visions of the future, in which team members can see themselves, are critical. I believe that Emotional Intelligence is an essential skill for any leader in order to create a respectful, empathetic and calm atmosphere where teams and individuals can succeed.
